Merry Ever After

I picked this up yesterday at the used bookshop. It's a neat book that follows two weddings during the Middle Ages. One couple is wealthy and noble and the other couple are poor peasants. The story shows the marriage arrangements and wedding traditions of the times and the pictures hearken back to Bruegel.

Both marriages are arranged by the fathers and both weddings have lots of food and drinking and merriment. I particularly like the picture of the peasant's wedding feast that lasted two days and the exhausted partyers just slept where they dropped.
